GRAPE VARIETY
100% Tempranillo

ON THE LAND
Made with grapes from vineyards situated at an altitude of 490-550m a.s.l. Clay soils with alluvium mainly in the surface. This diversity of soils gives us great fruit complexity and is significantly characteristic of the region. The alluvium renders finer and medium bodied wines which are ready to drink earlier.

VINTAGE
The year 2015 was characterized by abundant rainfall in winter and a hot summer, which brought the harvesting period forward. August was marked by more moderate temperatures and an excellent sanitary state of the plants with a moderate bud load, factors which endured until harvesting.

IN THE WINERY
Grapes are harvested at phenolic maturity and vinified according to Riojantradition, including pre-fermentative maceration and temperature-controlled fermentation. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in American oak casks for 12 months.

IN THE GLASS
Appearance: clean and bright, garnet red colour.
Nose: Fruity and spicy aromas, notes of tobacco.
Palate: Ripe fruit flavours, medium-bodied, good structure, round tannins, velvety mouthfeel.

AT THE TABLE
Ideal for pulses, rice dishes, stews, pâtés, cold cuts, cheeses and most meat dishes.

VIURA & TEMPRANILLO BLANCO

By | | No Comments

GRAPE VARIETY
85% Viura
15% Tempranillo Blanco

ON THE LAND
The Viura grapes come from vineyards that are over 30 years old, planted between 490‐550m a.s.l. Their clay and limestone soils provide just the right acidity to obtain very fresh, highly expressive and mediumbodied wines. Tempranillo Blanco, from the same area, enhances wine complexity in the coupage.

VINTAGE
The 2017 vintage was marked by sparse winter rainfall and early shoots. The region was hard hit by frost by late April, thus rendering lower yields. Timely rainfall during the summer months, and ideal conditions in August, helped fight back the level of hydric stress of the vines and led to an early September harvest, rendering small berries and optimum balance of berry compounds – a very good 2017 vintage.

IN THE WINERY
Low temperature maceration, soft press, and fermentation at controlled temperature. Subsequent sitting on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks.

IN THE GLASS
A bright, yellow‐green hue with aromas of white flowers, citrus and fruit compote. On the palate it is sweet and fresh, with notes reminiscent of ripe pear, apple and citrus. Good acidity combines with high aromatic expression that picks up on the finish.

AT THE TABLE
We suggest pairing it with pasta, grilled fish, seafood, salads and any type of Mediterranean food.

TEMPRANILLO

GRAPE VARIETY
100% Tempranillo

ON THE LAND
This wine comes from Tempranillo vines planted between 450‐490m a.s.l. in alluvial soil. Grapes from this area render very fruity wines featuring a pure expression of Riojan style Tempranillo.

IN THE WINARY
De‐stemming and crushing, prior to cold maceration. Temperature controlled fermentation. Later, the wine undergoes spontaneous malolactic fermentation and stays in stainless steel deposits.

IN THE GLASS
Appearance: intense red with purple and bluish hues, typical of its youth. On the nose it expresses aromas of fresh red fruit and licorice, a feature of our unoaked wine. Spicy hints rendered by Uruñuela’s soils. On the palate it is fresh, featuring velvety tannins. Elegant and vibrant, with notes of fresh fruit, well‐balanced and easy to drink.

WINEMAKER’S COMMENT
“true expression of Uruñuela’s Tempranillo.”

AT THE TABLE
We like this wine as it is clean with varietal hints. Lovely to drink alone or to pair with tapas.
